Storyboat
Terms of Service
Last updated: 10 July 2026
These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) are a legal agreement between you and Storyboat. Please read them carefully — by creating an account or using Storyboat, you agree to them.
1. Who we are & acceptance
Storyboat is operated by Windward Stories (“Windward Stories”, “we”, “us”, or “our”), a business based in India. You can reach us any time at hello@storyboat.app.
By accessing or using the Service, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy and Refund & Cancellation Policy, which are incorporated here by reference. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
2. Eligibility & accounts
Storyboat’s stories are made for children, but the Service is directed to and intended to be used by adults. To create an account you must:
- be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority where you live); and
- be legally able to enter into this agreement.
You may let a child in your care use Storyboat under your supervision. If you do, you are the account holder and you are responsible for all activity on your account, including any purchases and any use by children or others you allow to use it. Accounts are personal to you; keep your sign-in credentials secure and don’t share your account. You are responsible for the accuracy of the information associated with your account.
3. The service
Storyboat provides a curated library of original, illustrated, narrated bedtime stories that you can browse and play on the web and in our mobile apps. Stories are created by us using artificial-intelligence tools and reviewed before we publish them.
The Service lets you play and read illustrated stories. It does not let you create, upload, publish, or share your own stories, images, audio, or other content. We may add, change, remove, or stop offering any story or feature at any time.
4. Subscriptions & billing
Some Storyboat content requires a paid subscription. We currently offer a monthly plan, an annual plan, and, from time to time, a limited one-time “Founding Family” lifetime plan. Prices are shown in the app before you buy.
- Auto-renewal. Monthly and annual subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period at the then-current price until you cancel. The Founding Family plan is a one-time purchase and does not renew.
- Where you’re billed. Purchases are processed by the platform you buy on — the Apple App Store (iOS), Google Play (Android), or our web payment provider Paddle (web). Your access is unified across platforms: a valid subscription unlocks premium content on any device you sign in to with the same account.
- Price changes. We may change subscription prices. If a change affects your renewal, we (or the app store) will give you notice and, where required, the chance to cancel before it takes effect.
Cancellations and refunds are described in our Refund & Cancellation Policy.
5. Free & premium content
Some stories are free to everyone; most require an active subscription. Premium stories are gated on our servers — if you don’t have an active subscription, their images and audio are simply not delivered to your device. We decide which stories are free and may change that at any time.
6. Your license to use stories
Subject to these Terms and your subscription, we grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to stream and enjoy Storyboat stories for your own personal, non-commercial, family use only. All rights not expressly granted to you are reserved by us and our licensors.
7. Acceptable use
You agree that you will not, and will not permit anyone else to:
- download, copy, record, screen-capture, redistribute, publicly perform, sell, or otherwise exploit any story, image, audio, or other content from the Service, except for the ordinary in-app playback we provide;
- circumvent, disable, or interfere with any security, access-control, or media-protection measure (including our time-limited media links);
- scrape, crawl, harvest, or use bots or automated means to access or extract content or data from the Service;
- use any Storyboat content, in whole or in part, to train, fine-tune, or develop any artificial-intelligence or machine-learning model or dataset;
- reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to derive the source code of the Service;
- resell, sublicense, or provide access to the Service to others, or use it for any commercial purpose;
- use the Service to infringe anyone’s rights or to do anything unlawful, harmful, or abusive.
8. Our intellectual property
The Service and everything that makes it up — including the “Storyboat” and “Windward Stories” names, logos, and other marks; the app and website design, software, and user interface; and the selection, arrangement, curation, editing, and presentation of the story library — is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws. You may not use our names, logos, or branding without our prior written permission. Nothing in these Terms transfers any ownership to you.
9. AI-generated content
Storyboat’s stories, illustrations, and narration are produced with the help of artificial-intelligence tools and are provided on an “as is” basis. AI-generated content may contain inaccuracies, and any resemblance to any real person, place, character, brand, or existing work is unintended and coincidental. Storyboat’s content is meant for entertainment and is not professional, educational, medical, or other advice. We take reasonable steps to keep our content original and appropriate for a family audience.
10. Third-party services
The Service relies on third parties to work — for example Google and Apple (sign-in), the Apple App Store, Google Play, and Paddle (payments and subscription management), and our hosting, storage, and analytics providers. Your use of those services may be governed by their own terms and privacy policies, and we’re not responsible for them. Where you buy through the Apple App Store or Google Play, their standard end-user terms also apply, and Apple and Google are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms with the right to enforce them.
11. Copyright & takedown
We respect intellectual-property rights and expect our users to do the same. We work to keep Storyboat’s content original. If you are a rights holder and believe that content on Storyboat infringes your copyright, trademark, or other rights, please tell us at hello@storyboat.app with the subject line “Copyright / IP notice” and include:
- a description of the work or right you believe has been infringed;
- identification of the specific Storyboat story or content at issue (a title and link or screenshot is ideal), so we can locate it;
- your name, organization (if any), and contact details;
- a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorized by the rights holder, its agent, or the law; and
- a statement that the information in your notice is accurate.
We will review valid notices promptly and, where appropriate, remove or replace the content. We may also remove content and terminate accounts of anyone who misuses the Service to infringe others’ rights.
12. Disclaimers
The Service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or always available. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain disclaimers, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
13. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Windward Stories will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, goodwill, or profits, arising out of or relating to your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim or, where that is nil, a nominal amount. Nothing in these Terms limits any liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, including your non-waivable rights as a consumer.
14. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Windward Stories from any claims, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your misuse of the Service or your breach of these Terms, to the extent permitted by law.
15. Suspension & termination
You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms, if we’re required to by law, or if we discontinue the Service. If your access ends, sections that by their nature should survive (such as intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and governing law) will continue to apply. Termination does not entitle you to a refund except as set out in our Refund & Cancellation Policy or as required by law.
16. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we’ll update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, give you additional notice. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
17. Governing law & disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules, and the courts located in Kerala, India will have jurisdiction over any dispute, subject to any mandatory consumer-protection rights you have where you live. Before starting any formal proceeding, please contact us at hello@storyboat.app so we can try to resolve the matter informally.
