About Storyboat
Last updated: 8 October 2026
Storyboat is a library of original illustrated bedtime stories for children aged 3 to 8, made to be heard together at the end of the day.
1. Who we are
Storyboat is made by Windward Stories. We make the stories, and the website and the iPhone, iPad and Android apps they are read in. Everything about it is built for the few minutes at the end of the day when a family sits down together, so a story should feel like a picture book, not another screen to manage.
2. What we make
Every Storyboat story is original. Each page has its own illustration. In Play mode, a warm narrator reads the story aloud with the words lighting up as they are spoken, so a child can follow along. Read mode lets you turn the same pages at your own pace and read in your own voice. Most stories take 4 to 6 minutes.
We write stories children ask to hear again: a hero close to their own age, a real problem to solve, places worth exploring, and an ending calm enough to close the night on. You can browse the whole story library without an account, read each story’s text, and hear the opening pages of most of them. A selection of stories is free with an account, and a subscription opens the full library on every device you sign in on.
3. How stories are chosen and reviewed
Every story is reviewed by our team before it is published, with the ages it is meant for and the time of night it will be heard in mind. Each story page lists its suggested ages, its length and its themes, so you can see what a story is before you play it.
If anything in a story ever seems wrong to you, please tell us. Reports go straight to the people who review the stories, and we act on them quickly.
4. Our guides for parents
The Storyboat guides answer the everyday questions of storytime: what suits a 4-year-old, how to read aloud without it becoming a quiz, what to do when a child wants the same story every night. They are written by the Storyboat Editorial Team, and our editorial standards explain how we research each guide, check its sources and handle corrections.
5. Where to find Storyboat
Storyboat works in any web browser at storyboat.app, and as an app on the App Store for iPhone and iPad and on Google Play for Android. One account works everywhere, and a subscription bought on any of them opens the library on all of them.
6. Get in touch
We read every message. Write to hello@storyboat.app, or see the contact page for the details that help us answer on the first reply.
