This is the story of one small yawn. At the end of a very good day, a little mouse finished her seeds. She stretched her tiny arms high. She wiggled her tiny toes.
Then the little mouse stopped and… Yaaawn! Her yawn gave birth to a small, pink, squeaky yawn. The mouse curled up in a clearing in the wheat field and fell fast asleep.

But the yawn was just getting started. High in an oak tree, an owl had seen everything. “How silly, owls do not...” YAAAWN!
The little yawn had reached the owl! “Oh dear,” said the owl. By moonrise, she was snoring into her feathers. The yawn drifted down into a warm, sandy desert.
A golden camel was walking home, swaying like a little ship. The yawn landed right on her nose. Yaaaaawn! Her knees folded up like a picnic chair.
“Just a little rest,” she mumbled. Soon, the camel snored softly in the sand. Below the full moon, a striped cat guarded the day’s catch. This cat caught the yawn before it even landed.
Yaaaaaawwwn! She kneaded the rope around and around. Then she tucked in her paws and shut her eyes. A great blue whale rose up to see what was passing by.
“A yawn, how wonderful!” boomed the whale. Her mouth opened wider and wider. YAAAAAAAAAWN! nearby pelican held on to his little sailor hat.
The whale sank softly into the blue and slept a deep whale sleep. A monkey was swinging home for the night. The yawn caught him in mid-swing. Yaaawn!
He forgot to grab the next branch. Whump! “Hm,” said the monkey, “comfy.” He fell asleep right there.
Over the mountains, a snow leopard yawned on a cliff. Across the savanna, an elephant yawned a long, trumpeting yawn. In the quiet city, the bus driver yawned at the very last stop. The baker yawned into his flour.
The golden dog yawned in a doorway. Lights went out behind the yawn, one by one. The yawn crossed one more ocean, silver in the moonlight. It floated over one more hill.
It drifted past a lamppost, a sleeping cat, and a garden gate. The yawn was looking for someone warm and cozy. It slipped inside the open window… It landed soft as a feather…
Right on you. Yaaaaawn! There it is, the same yawn from the field. The little yawn had traveled around the whole wide world just to tuck you in.
Then the little yawn faded away. Now close your eyes. The mouse, the owl, the camel, the cat, the whale, and the monkey are all dreaming. Goodnight.
